Shit my mom says in while I’m at the dentist: “haha keely you’re making that face you make when you’re trying not to cry” thx mom

My old dentist used to start philosophical talks when I was with that tube in my mouth, I think he liked to monologize.

School: studying is absolutely easy, social life is shitty

  • That’s how I feel about people who argument saying “It’s in the Bible.”
”[…] nothing vexes me so much in folly as that it is more satisfied with itself than any reason can reasonably be. ‘Tis unfortunate that prudence forbids us to satisfy and trust ourselves, and always dismisses us timorous and discontented; whereas obstinacy and temerity fill those who are possessed with them with joy and assurance. ‘Tis for the most ignorant to look at other men over the shoulder, always returning from the combat full of joy and triumph. And moreover, for the most part, this arrogance of speech and gaiety of countenance gives them the better of it in the opinion of the audience, which is commonly weak and incapable of well judging and discerning the real advantage. Obstinacy of opinion and heat in argument are the surest proofs of folly; is there anything so assured, resolute, disdainful, contemplative, serious and grave as the ass?”
(Montaigne, Essay on the art of conference.)

  • Fallacies

People can be as dumb, dogmatic and ignorant as they want, provided they don’t make an assault against democracy and civilization (I know, it’s hard, but still). What I can’t stand is their irrational claim that their morals are simply “natural”. Moralistic/naturalistic fallacies really rile me. Shall we trust the reactionary institution which burned Bruno at stake for saying that the stars are suns, and which imprisomned Galileo for saying that the Earth isn’t the static center of the whole universe, when it comes to what is or isn’t natural? Shall we buy theo-teleological and moralistic theories, however epistemologically absurd they be? Seeking in a religion which has been historically inimical to love, pleasure, life, women, body, senses, reason, intelligence, knowledge, curiosity, independence, democracy an answer about human nature? Have mercy! If you don’t know how to play, go home.
